Why are you a leading contributor in the SugarCRM community? What are the benefits that you experience from your involvement?

I was very interested in providing open source CRM to companies in China. SugarCRM gave me the perfect opportunity to provide a translated version of a complete CRM and allowed me to provide customization services to these companies. Along the way I’ve met many friends in different places. So I have devoted myself to this project.

What other projects have you been involved with on SugarForge.org?

I have been totally dedicated to providing language packs for Sugar Suite, and to building new modules geared for enterprise customers. These include a products module, a quote module, report module, a new share module, a contract module and a follow-up module.

What inspired you to create this project?

I am very interested in open source and CRM. I studied several open source CRM projects including OFBiz, Compiere, and openMDX and found that none of these projects are suitable for the SME market in China. At last I found that SugarCRM is very good and make friends in different places.

What business pain points were you solving specifically?

I have helped the SugarCRM solve the problem of entering the Chinese market by providing the Chinese Simplified language pack. I have also worked with the Sugar team to resolve problems in email encoding, and other areas, like tab handling. This has helped Chinese users of Sugar Suite. By providing professional services to the Chinese market I have also increased the business value of Sugar Suite to the SME market.

Is there anything that the users should know about those? Something hidden/new in these modules? Think of this as an opportunity to describe how it works to a user.

Our SME users appreciate the modules we’ve built on top of Sugar Suite. We will provide more modules in the next release. We welcome developers around the world to take part in the project.

What would you say to encourage additional community participation?

Keep an eye on the requirements of SME, especially in China. Please contribute to the project in any way possible. In that way we will make SugarCRM even better for the Chinese market and we’ll get to make a lot of friends in different places.
